The artists of Danielle O'Steen's exhibition, Choice Encounters, work beyond the traditional gallery boundaries, facilitating community collaboration to explore local and national landscapes, calling attention to the artist as medium, guide and instigator. Participating artists: Krista Caballero, collaborative work by Michael Dax Iacovone & Billy Friebele.
An independent curator and critic, O'Steen has curated exhibitions at the American University Museum at the Katzen Arts Center, Flashpoint Gallery, and Gallery 102 at George Washington University. She has contributed to publications such as Art + Auction, Art Papers, and The Washington Post.
The 2014 Fellows Converge group exhibition curated by Klaus Ottmann will open on Friday, November 21 from 7-9 pm at Hamiltonian Gallery in Washington, DC. Artist Billy Friebele will produce a time-based drawing using melting ice during the exhibition opening.
