City of Ghosts
City of Ghosts was the culmination of a one-year Makers-in-Residence position I shared with Mike Iacovone at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library in Washington, DC. We were challenged to incorporate the tools in the maker space to create an exhibition.
Random Access Remix of "The Three Dimensions of a Complete Life" by Martin Luther King Jr utilizes a 3D scan of a bust of Dr. King Jr. from the library and Arduino microcontrollers to build an interactive experience. When the button is pressed the text from "The Three Dimensions of a Complete Life" speech delivered at New Covenant Baptist Church, Chicago, Illinois, on 9 April 1967 by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is randomly accessed and printed for the viewer in the form of a receipt. The viewer can choose to take the text with them.
